I am no fashion guru.

I have little to no background in the whole fashion world at all. I am from New York, but it’s a big state and we don’t need to be specific regarding the region. However, as a child I used to enjoy coloring, like many little ones do. One Christmas I received a fashion designer coloring kit. I loved that kit so much. I found that all my drawings had quickly turned into left, right or center faced mannequin bodies assembled in many different articles of clothing. So it was decided, I was to be a fashion designer.  My favorite thing to color was evening wear, so it is no surprise that it is still my favorite type of clothing to shop for.d8bbe96bdde537ff18629bd014eb3123

As it turns out, I did not make it in the fashion designing world. I probably would’ve had to try in the first place. So while I may not be able to give you the new hottest inside scoop for trendy items, I can tell you about the fun articles of clothing that I like to pair together. I might even be able to help inspire some ideas for timeless treasures to add to the closet. While providing input as to what occasions they would be best worn.

I’m still deciding who I want to be when I grow up. Finding what or “who” to wear has not escaped my wavering self.519c0dc93f86f853aef12bd5ac9ccaf6

My soul screams Free People and Anthropology but my heart says Ann Taylor and Kate Spade. My mind desires Alice + Olivia, BCBG and French Connection but my wallet wants BP, Lush or even the good old not so Forever 21.

With so many choices, it’s no wonder we may have so many questions as to who we are. I can’t even figure out where I’m supposed to shop. Once in a blue moon I even find myself longing for J Crew or wait for it, the ever so brightly colored, Lilly Pulitzer.

Style and how we present ourselves to others does say a lot about our personality and who we are. Like it or not, we do often end up judging a book by its cover. 0bce3f48d330689c9b045b4146e91805The book might be full of the expected chapters or shock us with the completely unexpected. There are so many times I find myself thinking “I would have named this restaurant something different” or “that movie doesn’t reflect the story”. It can also easily apply to people, because she dresses a certain way she must be… fill in the blank.

I’m going to keep working on what or who I want to be when I grow up. As well as trying to figure out how I should dress.

In the meantime, I guess I’m going to have fun trying out all the styles from boutiques, malls and everything in between.4c67cb77f7e962aa1405c1293e99e689 bde8dfc3b957a686581d3c4c16d8b29b

You have and always have had the greatest sense of style! I love reading your blogs but this one, I couldn’t help responding to. I read once that your greatest accessory is YOUR BODY! With a body well nourished and well taken care of, any clothing looks it’s best! For me style tends to be based on the destination. I dress for where I am going. At school I look like a teacher. When I was working at Nordstrom, I looked like a stylist. Furthermore, realizing what fits and what doesn’t, and how you wear your clothes can be part of your particular style, too! Even at the age of 48 i am still deciding on my style everyday. That’s the fun of fashion!
